I had a good experiance when I bought the house but when I was just doing a streamline which should have been simple and easy.
No one told me to stop autopay before closing and I was told I wouldn’t have to pay the next month,, so I didn’t transfer the money and you ran autopay which cost me 60.00 in fees before I caught it. When I called about it I felt like the several people I talked blew me off saying I should’ve stopped autopay.Next you canceled the home owners insurance policy which then created a whole lot of stress and issues trying to get that corrected and my home covered, luckily nothing happened in the 6 days I didn’t have coverage, when the papwer work I signed said that coverage was supposed to be paid through mortgage as it was before the refinance. Also I don’t understand why closing cost were almost as high as the first loan especially for a stream line and then the rate was higher when said and done versus when I started the process.

Response from Veterans United

Hey Allen,
I appreciate you sharing your feedback, and I’m sorry to hear the refinance process didn’t go as smoothly as your first experience with us. I understand how frustrating it must have been dealing with the autopay issue, the temporary lapse in insurance coverage, and the questions about your costs and rate. That’s not the kind of stress we ever want to create for our borrowers.

I’d really like my advocates to review your file and see what happened so we can better explain those details and make sure your concerns are fully addressed. Please reach out to us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. Our team is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time.

The prompt communication from the team at VU was much appreciated. Buying a home is an extremely complex process, and the team made things so much easier.

I don't vouch for a company just to do it. I always considered it putting my name on the line when I do. I don't hand out tens...especially when vets are involved with giving an honest opinion on the company. They were polite / professional + above board in every aspect. Couldn't recommend more.

Veterans United is fantastic. Task orientated and perfect for veterans. I have used VU multiple times now, buying and selling. This time it was both simultaneously and they were there every step of the way. I couldn’t ask for a better team. Thank you Veterans United!

Overall a way below average experience due to the following.1) This was my second time using VU. First was awesome. I was warned that using the main office vice a local one was gonna be painful and it was.
2) Underwriting . It seemed like it went through 10 different people. Each time it was evident they didn't look at my file or previously posted to dos as several times the info was there already.
3) Excessive amount of info to submit. Feel free to pull my to do list. I felt like I was a criminal trying to convince the judge. When I do a stream line in the future someone will have to convince me to use VU. Most likley I won't.

Honestly would never used VU again. Next to zero communication, way too many people on your “team”… no one answers phone calls, everything is done through text and just aggravating to get clarification. When closing got pushed to the next day, not one person from the team reached out to me to explain why nor previously did they explain what needed to be done. The notary was more helpful than the team.

Response from Veterans United

Hi Alexis,

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re committed to learning from this and making improvements to ensure a better experience for future clients. It’s disappointing to learn that communication was lacking and that having multiple team members made it harder for you to get the support you needed. Closing delays without clear explanation and the feeling of being left in the dark are not the experiences we aim to provide, and I apologize for the frustration this caused.

Our goal is to make the homebuying process as straightforward and supportive as possible, and it’s clear we missed the mark here. You should have felt informed and supported at every step, especially in the final days before closing. Your feedback is invaluable, and we take it seriously as we work to improve our communication and coordination across the team.

If you're open to discussing this further, my team would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened so we can address these issues directly. Please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We're available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but don’t hesitate to contact us anytime that’s convenient for you.

9 months and we finally closed and we could not have asked for a better company to deal with all the ups and downs we went through.
