Veterans United Foundation Donates $100,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs

Gift goes to help enable organization to renovate and double the size of current facility

Columbia, Mo. The Veterans United Foundation is proud to announce its gift of $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs (BGC) of Columbia. The donation will help fund the BGC's $2.5 million capital campaign to renovate and expand its current main site located at 1200 North 7th Street. The funds raised will allow BGC to build a 14,000 square foot expansion, more than doubling its facility size. The campaign will also renovate the existing 10,000 square feet of its facility.

Boys and Girls Club of Columbia is an integral partner within the community for reaching at-risk youth, said Greg Steinhoff, executive director of Veterans United Foundation. We are pleased to support this campaign and encourage the local business community to do the same.

The expansion will allow BGC to enhance the quality and diversity of their programs, build capacity and specifically recruit and retain more teenage youth with innovative programs. The additional 14,000 square feet will house a teen center, commercial education kitchen, an expanded cafeteria, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a performing arts stage and a recording studio. The renovation of the current 10,000 square feet will enhance the teen center, STEM room and will provide more office space and storage.

The Veterans United Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization created and driven by the employees of Veterans United Home Loans. Launched in 2011, Veterans United Foundation is built on employee contributions that are matched dollar-for-dollar by Veterans United Home Loans. The foundation recently donated a record $1.5 million to Welcome Home, Inc. for the construction of a new emergency homeless shelter for Veterans in Columbia.
