Great Place to Work® and Fortune name Veterans United Home Loans as one of 50 Best Workplaces for Camaraderie

December 22, 2015

COLUMBIA, Mo. Veterans United Home Loans is honored to announce it is one of the 50 Best Workplaces for Camaraderie by Great Place to Work® and Fortune. The national lender focuses on VA Home Loans and was chosen as the fourth highest ranked company on the list, based on its employees' own assessments of the sense of team, fun and collegiality in the workplace.

At Veterans United, we strive to live by the values our employees developed, said Nate Long, CEO at Veterans United. Be passionate and have fun, deliver results with integrity and enhance lives every day. When we come to work ready to serve our nation's Veterans and families, we get to live our values in real time which helps us be better individuals and co-workers. As a company, we want to provide opportunities for everyone to build relationships and have fun together; it's part of our DNA. Whether it's our annual field day, summer camp outs, Santa parties, volunteering, small book clubs or just getting coffee together, the part that makes it all work so well is the commitment our employees have for one another. To be on this list is a reflection of the friendships that have been forged and the caring that happens every day, and that's an honor.

Veterans United and the 49 other winning companies were selected based on evaluations by more than 255,000 randomly-selected employees from nearly 600 participating companies. Employees anonymously answered questions about how frequently they experience the behaviors that create a great workplace. Companies achieving the highest overall results in their size categories were then ranked based on employees' feedback regarding the quality of the personal connections they experience with colleagues, taking into account: how comfortable people feel being themselves; how friendly, cooperative and fun the workplace is; and the strength of its teams. Each ranked company's survey results achieved a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of five percent or less. The total score for each company was based entirely upon employee feedback.

Companies that develop strong personal ties among employees and make time for fun at work aren't just doing it to be nice, it's a critical strategic investment, said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work® United States. Workplaces with strong camaraderie are associated with higher levels of cooperation, effort and effective communication are all essential ingredients of a high-performing organization.

The 50 Best Workplaces for Camaraderie ranking is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from published Great Place to Work® Reviews. In October of this year, Veterans United was announced as number 48 of 100 Best Workplaces for Women by Great Place to Work® and Fortune.
