A Google+ Hangout will connect mainland veterans with Pearl Harbor survivors in Hawaii
HONOLULU Veterans United Home Loans, the nations leading dedicated VA lender, is partnering with the National Park Service and the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument to host a one-of-a kind interactive and live streaming event honoring Pearl Harbor survivors and other WWII veterans. The Google+ Hangout will take place Saturday, Dec. 7, at various locations on the mainland and Hawaii. The event will allow veterans unable to travel to Pearl Harbor to be part of the ceremony marking the bombings 72nd anniversary. The live stream starts at 7 a.m. (12 p.m. EST) with Pearl Harbor survivors, WWII veterans and others having the opportunity to share stories and other memories face-to-face-to-face via the Google+ Hangout. The Pearl Harbor ceremony will then begin at 7:45 a.m. (12:45 EST). Live stream participants will have the same view as if they were actually sitting on the main lawn of the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Participating sites include the Navy Heritage Center at the United States Navy Memorial in Washington D.C., Great Lakes Naval Museum in Chicago, Arizona State Capitol Museum in Phoenix and Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park in California. It will be shown live at two veterans homes, one in Kansas and one in Missouri. The entire 72nd anniversary event will be available live on the Veterans United YouTube page.
