Veterans United Home Loans receives the ERE Best Onboarding Program award at the 2013 ERE Recruiting Conference and Expo held April 16.
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Veterans United Home Loans announced it received the ERE Best Onboarding Program award at the 2013 ERE Recruiting Conference and Expo held April 16. This is the first year for the Onboarding category, which honors outstanding ways to introduce new employees to the company through various orientation activities.
As part of its orientation, Veterans United has a unique two-day onboarding program focused on instilling the company's values: be passionate, deliver results and enhance lives. Prior to an employee's first day, he or she is sent a welcome card and a $10 bill. The individual is asked to spend that money being kind or helpful to someone else. During orientation employees discuss the impact their action had toward enhancing another's life.
"The driving force of Veterans United is our values," said Amanda Andrade, chief people officer at Veterans United. "We want our employees to be fully committed to living out our values, so we encourage folks to participate in giving back even before they start their new career. We want to make sure they come into the company with the same excitement the rest of our employees have for fulfilling the dream of homeownership for veterans and active military."
The remainder of the orientation consists of understanding the VA home loan program, meeting with various employees and team-building activities. The second day of the orientation process was added in March 2013, and focuses on helping employees understand the experiences of veterans and active military.
